Can I shorten a validity term—for example, I choose to do annual EICRs?

Supported Certificate Types & Validity Rules

Yes - you can set a shorter validity period than the default. CertNudge respects the expiry date you enter, even if it is more frequent than regulations require.

How to Set a Shorter Term

  1. Choose the certificate type (e.g. EICR)
  2. Enter the Issue Date as normal
  3. Instead of using the suggested expiry, manually select your preferred Expiry Date — such as 12 months later
  4. Save the certificate — CertNudge will track it exactly as entered

Why Would You Shorten the Term?

  • You follow a stricter-than-required safety policy (e.g. annual EICRs in HMOs)
  • You renew early for convenience (e.g. align multiple certificates to a single month)
  • Letting agents or insurers require more frequent updates

There’s no lower limit. CertNudge doesn’t enforce the default — it’s just a suggestion. You’re in full control of the expiry cycle for each certificate.
