I’m in Scotland where EICRs and PATs are both 5-year cycles, does the system handle regional rules?

Supported Certificate Types & Validity Rules

Currently, CertNudge's default certificate renewal periods reflect regulations common in England. However, you can easily override these defaults manually to match specific requirements in Scotland, Wales, or other regions.

How to Handle Regional Differences Now

If you manage properties outside England with different standard validity periods (like 5-year PAT tests in Scotland), follow these steps when adding the certificate:

1
Enter Issue Date

Select the certificate type (e.g., PAT Test) and enter the correct Issue Date from your document.

2
Check Suggested Expiry

The system will auto-suggest an expiry date based on its default rules (e.g., +1 year for PAT).

3
Manually Set Correct Expiry

Click the 'Expiry Date' field and use the calendar picker to select the correct date according to your region's specific requirements (e.g., set a 5-year expiry for PAT in Scotland). Then click Save.

CertNudge will then use your manually entered date for all dashboard statuses and email reminders.

Future Update: Region-Aware Defaults

Planned Enhancement

We have region-aware settings on our development roadmap. Future updates aim to allow the system to automatically suggest the correct default intervals based on a property's specified location (e.g., England, Scotland, Wales), reducing the need for manual overrides.

Keep an eye on future release notes for this feature!
