Is 2-factor authentication available?
Yes, CertNudge supports Two-Factor Authentication (2FA), and we strongly recommend enabling it for enhanced account security.
What Is 2FA and Why Use It?
An Extra Layer of Security
2FA (Two-Factor Authentication) adds a second step to your login. After entering your password, you'll need to provide a time-sensitive code generated by an authenticator app on your phone.
- Significantly reduces the risk of unauthorised access, even if your password is compromised.
- Highly recommended for all users to protect your property data.
- Uses the standard TOTP protocol, compatible with apps like Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, Authy, etc.
How to Enable 2FA on Your Account
Go to Profile
Navigate to your Profile icon, then select the "Security" or "Two-Factor Auth" section.
Add Authenticator App
Click the button labelled "Add authenticator app" or "Enable 2FA".
Scan QR Code
Open your preferred authenticator app (e.g., Google Authenticator) on your phone and scan the QR code displayed on the screen.
Enter Verification Code
Enter the 6-digit code generated by your authenticator app into CertNudge to verify and complete the setup.
Setup Complete
2FA is now active! You'll be prompted for a code from your app each time you log in.
Important: Make sure to save the recovery codes provided during setup in a safe place in case you lose access to your authenticator app.
Future Requirement?
Highly Recommended Now
While 2FA is currently optional, we strongly encourage all users to enable it. Given the increasing security threats online, we may consider making 2FA mandatory in the future to ensure the highest level of protection for all accounts. Enabling it now keeps your account secure.
