How does CertNudge know when my certificate expires?

Getting Started & On-Boarding

To save you time, CertNudge automatically prefills typical certificate expiry dates. You can then adjust the date to match your document before saving.

How Smart Date prefilling Works

1
Select Certificate Type

Choose the type of certificate you are uploading (e.g., Gas Safety).

2
Dates are prefilled

The system adds the typical validity period to the issue date you enter.

Common prefilled Validity Periods

Certificate Type Typical Validity
Gas Safety Certificate (CP12) 12 Months
Electrical Installation (EICR) 5 Years
Energy Performance (EPC) 10 Years
PAT Testing 12 Months

You Must Verify the Date Before Saving

Crucial Final Step

Always check the prefilled expiry date against your actual certificate. The prefill is a helpful guide, but the date on your document is the legal one.

  • An engineer may issue a certificate with a shorter validity period.
  • Renewal dates can vary depending on the inspection date.
  • You can easily override the prefilled date with the correct one.

How to Adjust the Expiry Date

If the prefilled date is incorrect, simply click on the date field and select the correct expiry date from the calendar before you click save.

Ensuring Accurate Reminders

By confirming the correct expiry date, you ensure that CertNudge's automated reminder schedule (at 60, 30, 14, and 7 days) is perfectly accurate, giving you peace of mind.
