How is the % valid badge calculated?
The "% Valid" badge shows the percentage of certificate records whose recorded expiry dates have not passed.
It is a record-date indicator based on the information held in CertNudge. It is not a legal compliance score.
How is the percentage calculated?
Non-expired certificate records ÷ all certificate records × 100
The result is displayed as the percentage of certificate records that have not passed their recorded expiry dates.
Which records count as valid?
Non-expired records
A certificate record counts as valid when its recorded expiry date has not yet passed.
Records expiring soon
A record that is approaching expiry still counts as valid until its recorded expiry date has passed.
Expired records
A certificate record no longer counts as valid once its recorded expiry date has passed.
Example calculation
An organisation has five certificate records:
- Four records have not expired.
- One record has expired.
4 ÷ 5 × 100 = 80%
The dashboard would display 80% valid.
When does the percentage change?
The percentage can change when the underlying certificate records change, including when:
- A new certificate record is added.
- An expiry date is corrected.
- An expired record is replaced or updated.
- A recorded expiry date passes.
“Valid” does not mean legally compliant
The badge does not check whether the correct certificate types are present or whether a certificate is authentic, complete or legally sufficient.
It only compares the expiry dates recorded in CertNudge. CertNudge does not provide legal advice or guarantee compliance.

Review certificate documents and recorded dates directly rather than relying on the percentage alone. You remain responsible for arranging inspections, remedial work and renewals when required.
