Is the Service Log legal proof of receipt

Sharing Features

No. A CertNudge service log is not legal proof that a document was delivered, received or read.

It is a landlord-entered management record containing information provided by an authorised CertNudge user.

What does a service log record?

A service log records what the CertNudge user says happened, including the date, method used, recipient description and any optional notes.

What is it useful for?

Maintaining an internal record

It can help your organisation keep a chronological management record of when and how evidence was reportedly shared.

Reviewing previous actions

It can help authorised users review the information previously entered about a document-sharing action.

What does it not prove?

  • Legal service of a document
  • Delivery to the intended recipient
  • The identity of the person using a share link
  • Receipt by a named person
  • Download by a named person
  • That the document was opened, understood or read

Keep any other evidence your process requires

Do not rely on CertNudge alone where proof of delivery, receipt or legal service is required. Keep any other records required by your process and obtain legal advice where necessary.

Protect personal information

Keep recipient descriptions and notes factual and proportionate. Do not enter unnecessary tenant personal information.
